“Imagination is more important than knowledge” --Albert Einstein

I have found that I sometimes struggle to inspire my 4 year old's imagination. But sometimes, I am hit by, well, let's just call it a stroke-of-genius. Modest, I know. Let me explain.
I think equally important as imagination in my children is a sense of responsibility. Don't think me a slave driver, but I found a way to combine the two…at least for 45 minutes.
I asked Delaney if she wanted to play ‘Cinderella'…and I didn't mean getting dressed up for the Ball with Prince Charming. I was thinking more along the lines of Cinderella's day job.
Stop snickering. She said ‘yes'. So, together, we cleaned the kitchen floor. On our hands and knees. . I slid her around on her little towel like she was on a magic carpet, and she ‘cleaned'. And, we HAD FUN. Sure, this meant lots of water on the floor. Sure, it was some extra work for me. But, Delaney actually got a kick out of it

That means I REALLY got a kick out of it.
Let's be honest. This type of ‘imagining' won't last forever. There will definitely be a day when Delaney complains about feeling like Cinderella. But for now, I can enjoy the time I spent with my little girl. We both can enjoy the feeling of a job well done. And, Delaney got to imagine she was one of her favorite princesses.
That is success in my book.
